Bandung, Indonesia 5 -6 July '08. Not satisfied with just the local auto show scene, the KA gang got wind of an auto show happening in Bandung, Indonesia – Auto Blackthrough Tour. We heard from a few people that the modified cars there are really out-of-this world. So, we packed our bags, booked our tickets and headed for the land of garudas. Here’s our report on the modified car scene in Indonesia.

100 – Prepare for I.C.E Madness

Check out this Monster ICE Machine! Known as “100” this is a real killer ICE car…. This little beauty holds the record in Indonesia for the car with the most number of speakers and monitors on an automobile. Believe it or not, I counted 18 sub-woofers on this baby!

BMW M6 Low-Rider

This was a standard BMW 318i in its former life. After some extensive reconstructive surgery and facelift, behold! A chili red BMW M6 sports car totally ‘pimped out’ low-rider with fully remote controlled pneumatic suspension, scissors-style doors, hydraulic hood and killer I.C.E on board.

Purple Haze

Another pretty ‘lil number. A ‘cute’ little jeep with a pretty candy purple finish and lots of extra toppings. Oh, and in case the animals (like you and me) start to get too close for comfort there those mean looking woofers to scare us away.

Dare to ride the Cobra?

Mitsubishi Galant 2003 fully converted to GT car now called ‘Cobra’. Don’t know what beast is lurking under the hood or any of the specs, though…but we can tell you that this car is not just for show. It will make you wet your pants! By the way, the gal next to it is not bad looking, either. “Excuse me, miss. Can you step aside so we can take pictures of the car?”

ABT Dyno

Here’s something totally new. So you have modified your car with turbo, port and polished the heads, lightened flywheel, racing clutch, got this and that electronic gadgets etc and tuned your car into monster with a few hundred more horsepower. So what? Now, you have a chance to go head to head on the Auto Blackthrough Dyno Challenge – it’s all about horsepower baby, yeah! Word is that the reigning champion is this crazy Skyline that can hit 1000hp!

Sadly though, we didn’t get to see much airbrush action this time. Overall, we didn’t get to see as much as we had hoped. Then we found out from the challengers that there will be a much bigger auto show in Jakarta in a couple of weeks, time. As the Terminator said “We'll be back……… ”
