26-28 Dec 08. Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia gets ‘Kustomized’!

Petrol heads, motor heads and car fans of all ages from all over Malaysia and overseas thronged Stadium Putra for the inaugural Xtreme International Autoshow officiated by Minister of Tourism, Dato Seri Azalina Othman Said. The recently concluded Xtreme International Autoshow witnessed the largest ever gathering of custom modified cars in Malaysia. Almost 200 modified cars from all over Malaysia took part in the show. Many of the cars were there to compete in the first ever National Modified Car Challenge.

This was the hottest, biggest modified car competition & autoshow ever. Most of the cars were so good; the judges had a really tough time awarding points. We managed to get a little lowdown on the Judges deliberation and found out that the celebrity Judge, Big Daddy had to see the cars again coz he he couldn’t decide. It was a real tough choice, he said but in end, the overall champion and best of show award was won by AL Motorsports’ 6-wheel Perodua Kancil.

“It was between the BMW and the 6-wheel. It was such tough call. Both the cars are fantastic. All the cars here are great. But the 6 wheel guy won just coz of extra little bit of imagination” said Big Daddy. Some guys weren't too happy bout the results, though. Don't worry bros... you'll get your chance for revenge next year coz the Champion has to come back to defend his title of 'Xtreme King of the Road'.

‘Big Daddy’ and his crew from ‘The Kustomizer’ as seen on Discovery Channel – Roy Benton a.k.a ‘Roy Boy’, Mike Prisco a.k.a ‘Wax Daddy’, custom bike builder Jacky Landon and the very beautiful and sexy mechanic/welder Jazmyne Hernandez flew all the way from the US just for the show. Sadly enough, the highly anticipated Double Headed Mini Cooper and Jet Car did not make it to the show because they were detained by US Customs.

Still, there were plenty of other awesome jaw dropping cars on display. The Freestyle Team from Thailand stole the show with their exotic customized cars. Fully loaded with lights, powerful audio systems and hydraulic suspension systems, these cars can blast music at ear shattering levels while literally ‘dancing’ to the beat. They hop, rock and even gyrate as the driver controls the car’s movements using remote controls.

Every evening, a car was burned during the Spit Fire Burndown – a stunt never before attempted in Malaysia. A car was doused with petrol and set aflame by the exhaust flame of a Fire Spitting car. On the last day of the show, 2 cars were burned at once. Awesome! You had to be there.

At night, the cars put on their own light & sound show complete with pyrotechnics. ICE Cars (In Car Entertainment) pumped out ground shaking house music and lit up the area with their laser/LED disco style lights while Spit Fire cars shot flames from their exhausts, complete with their distinctive ‘pop’ sound like cannons. To complement the action were hip hop dancers & breakdancers thrilling the crowd with their slick moves.

No Autoshow is complete without Show Girls and Kelab Autoshow did not disappoint with their bevy of international beauties. They even threw in the customary catwalk on stage led by the sexy vivacious Latin American Jasmin. Pheee-weeeet!

As part of Kelab Autoshow’s charity efforts, ‘Xtreme International Gives Back’ also rewarded 40 children from shelter homes with tickets to the show where they were treated to dinner, goodies and met the stars up close. Proceeds from t-shirt sales were donated to the shelter homes.

To all those who didn’t go for the show, you missed out on the biggest, baddest Autoshow in Malaysia. But don’t worry, you’ll get another chance next year - Xtreme International Autoshow 2 is coming! To all challengers, it's time to start planning for XIA 09... Bring it On!!!
